 Soft Landings: The Art of Self-Care and Rest

Life often demands so much from us—hard work, perseverance, and constant effort. We push ourselves to achieve, succeed, and meet the expectations of others and ourselves. But amidst all the hustle, there’s one thing we often overlook: soft landings. ✈️


What do I mean by "soft landings"? Simply put, it’s the concept of taking care of yourself—physically, mentally, and emotionally—especially during tough times. 


Balancing rest and activity 

It’s about knowing when to rest and allow yourself the space to recharge. Often, in our pursuit of goals and deadlines, we mistakenly think of self-care as a luxury we can’t afford. But in reality, it’s essential to our well-being.


Taking care of your battery (self-care) 

When things get tough, it’s easy to deprioritize self-care. We may feel that resting or taking time for ourselves is indulgent or unproductive, but that’s far from the truth. Self-care is like charging your battery. 🔋 


Yes, it may take time out of your busy schedule, but the return is priceless: a soft landing, like a plush mattress to collapse onto after a long day.

Picture a butter smooth airplane landing ✈️ 


The bee as inspiration 

Think of the busy bee: it works hard and consistently, but it also knows when to pause and recharge. 🐝


It understands the balance 


between 


exertion and rest. 


input and output. 


Incorporating and embracing stillness as well sound.

Learning to rest

As humans, we often focus on the first half—working hard—but learning how to rest is just as important. In fact, it’s a skill I’m constantly refining myself. Grounding is something I feel can be very effective. 


I want to share this with you because, as a coach, I’m still learning. I believe in the power of lifelong learningPerhaps you too are on a similar journey. 

Maybe you’re working non-stop, pushing through deadlines, or even neglecting your own well-being. It’s okay. We’re all learning how to navigate this balance. 


You deserve a soft landing 🛬 

If you find yourself in a season of overwork, remember this: you deserve soft landings. 

They may not be easy to prioritize, but they are vital for your physical and mental health. 

They allow you to keep going, not by pushing harder, but by taking a step back and recharging.


We all deserve the grace of self-compassion, especially in challenging times. 


So, the next time you feel overwhelmed, remember that rest is not the opposite of hard work—it’s the fuel that helps you keep going.
