From Weekly to Monthly Calm: A New Yoga Chapter Begins
A New Chapter in the Hatha & Breath Class
As I sit here, reflecting on teaching my last weekly Hatha & Breath class at Karuna Yoga Center Leidschendam, I’m filled with gratitude.
After more than a year and a half of weekly sessions, this class has been a new concept, a new chapter with a new teacher (me!), and it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey.
However, as with all beautiful experiences, change is inevitable. Summer is upon us, and with it, a shift in the class schedule.
From now on, this class will become a special monthly offering – every first Friday of the month. Although I’ll miss the weekly rhythm after such a long time, I am excited about creating fresh, meaningful moments with you all in these new monthly sessions.
Before we turn the page to the next chapter, I’d like to share 3 lessons that have shaped my journey. These lessons are simple yet powerful, and they can be applied to your practice and life right away.
1. Your Breath is Always With You
Your breath is your constant companion, always available to you, whether you’re practicing yoga or simply navigating life’s daily challenges.
You can always take a "mini breather" to reset, anywhere, anytime. (Check out the links here for quick 1-minute breath resets.)
Try integrating these small pauses into your stretches and asanas, as I often guide in my flows. Remember, your breath is a tool, a source of renewal.
2. Let Go to Make Space
It’s not always easy to release what no longer serves us, but it’s necessary for growth. One powerful tool to help in this process is the breath. Lengthen your exhales and push all the air out until there’s nothing left.
How does it feel to take a fresh, deep inhale afterward?
It’s amazing what simply letting go can do for your body and mind. So, whenever you feel overwhelmed or stuck, pause and release. Trust in the power of the breath to help you reset.
3. The Power of a Pause
Sometimes, taking a step back or hitting the pause button can be the very thing that propels us forward. Whether it’s in yoga or in life, don’t be afraid to pause and reset.
When you allow yourself that moment of stillness and release, you make space for renewal, creativity, and peace to flow in.
The same goes for your breath – don't rush. Give yourself the gift of stillness, and watch how your energy shifts.
I hope these lessons support you in your journey as well.
