Why You Should Follow Your Own Advice (Part 2)
Why You Should Follow Your Own Advice
In my previous post I wrote a little bit about following your own advice:
A Quick Thought: Follow Your Own Advice
Have you ever given someone advice that you knew was spot-on, only to realize later that you weren't taking it yourself? It's funny how we can be the best advisors for others, yet so hard on ourselves. But what if we started practicing what we preach? Could it lead us to more clarity and peace?
In this blog I’d like to elaborate on this concept of following your own advice!
Everything you need is already present inside of you
This idea is central to many philosophies, and ancient sciences like Yoga and Ayurveda. Recently, I was told twice to follow my own advice, and it made me realize how often we ignore the wisdom we already have.
In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna advises Arjuna to trust his inner guidance: "Performing your own dharma (duty) with devotion is better than performing another's dharma perfectly" (Chapter 3, Verse 35). This suggests that we already possess the strength and wisdom to navigate our own path, if we choose to listen.
Similarly, Ayurveda teaches that the body and mind have innate intelligence. The Charaka Samhita explores how our body’s natural balance is key to healing and well-being, reminding us that we already know what we need when we’re in tune with ourselves.
Conclusion
Trusting your inner voice can lead to more authentic choices and a deeper sense of fulfillment. Next time you’re stuck, ask yourself:
What advice would I give a friend in this situation?
Chances are, your own wisdom is exactly what you need.
In the next blog in this series I’ll elaborate on how this concept is supported by Yoga Scriptures and other sacred texts. (Click here for part 1.

Hope this helps you in anyway. If you found this valuable, please share this with a friend ๐ Thank you!
Keeping life in motion, see you in the next blog.
