I teach breathwork and learned this.

I teach breathwork and learned this.   I teach breathwork and the valuable lesson I’ve learned is that people often put too much pressure on their breathing. True relaxation comes from observing the breath without judgment, allowing it to flow naturally. It’s about letting go, not forcing, and finding peace in the simplicity of each inhale and exhale. Especially when starting to practice breathing exercises . (And no I am not talking about more dynamic ‘breath control’ techniques. Yet. But I might soon. ✨) Comment what you’d like to see next! I hope you found this helpful. If you did, please like, share, and subscribe for more insights on breathwork and relaxation. 🫨Why High Breathing Happens & How to Ground Yourself | Serenity Scripts by Devi - High Breathing & Panic – How to Ground Through Breath - Help with Panic Attacks - Why High Breathing Happens & How to Ground Yourself

🌬️  Part of The Breath Series Why High Breathing Happens & How to Ground Yourself In my yoga classes, many students notice their breath rising high into the chest, especially during stress or panic. This "high breathing" can increase tension and make it hard to relax. Today, I want to share why this happens and how grounding your breath can help restore calm. What Is High Breathing? High breathing is shallow, quick breath limited to the upper chest. It’s part of the body's fight-or-flight response, signaling alertness and preparing us for action. But when it becomes habitual, it leads to anxiety, tension, and disconnection from the body. The Energetic Connection From an energetic perspective, high breathing disconnects us from the root chakra (Muladhara), which grounds us in safety and stability. The breath remains in the upper chakras, creating imbalance and a feeling of “floating” or being ungrounded. How to Ground Through Breath Here are simple tools t...

🚲Breaks and Gas Pedals

🌬️  Part of The Breath Series Breaks and Gas Pedals: How Your Body Can “Brake” Without You Realizing The wind wasn’t too strong as I biked home today. Sun shining ☀️, a little breeze 🌬️, and surprisingly, the ride felt good. I felt grateful—small moments like this don’t happen often. At the lights, I hit the brakes. Standing still, I noticed the subtle pressure on the tires, almost as if the brakes were lightly engaged even when I wasn’t pressing them. That’s when it clicked: sometimes our bodies work the same way. In yoga and nervous system theory , we talk about the  autonomic nervous system —the balance between the  sympathetic (active, alert)  and  parasympathetic (rest, recovery)  systems. When this balance is off, the body can feel like it’s “braking” too much or “stuck on gas.” ⛽️   🚴‍♀️ Cycling as a metaphor   Think about it like cycling: if your brakes are partially on, pedaling feels heavier, progress is slower, and even s...

🌬️ Why Your Breath Changes When You’re Stressed (and What It Means)

Why Your Breath Changes When You’re Stressed Stress & Breathing: Why Your Breath Changes (and What It Means) A gentle introduction to how stress affects your breath and what your body is trying to tell you 🌬️  Part of The Breath Series Why Your Breath Changes When You’re Stressed (and what it means) Most of the time, we think stress starts in the mind. But in reality, it often starts somewhere much more subtle: the body. Before you even realize you’re stressed, your breath has already changed. It becomes shorter. Higher. Less spacious. And usually, you only notice it once you already feel “off.” 🧠 Your body reacts before your thoughts do When something feels overwhelming—emotionally, mentally, or physically—your nervous system responds instantly. It doesn’t wait for you to analyse the situation. It simply shifts into protection mode. This is why you might feel: restless for no clear reason slightly tense in your chest or stomach like your mind is moving faster than your body ...

🍲✨Khichdi: From Chaos to Comfort 🌾

Khichdi: From Chaos to Comfort  🌾 The Magic of Khichdi: Wholesome Food for Body and Mind 🍲✨ Today, I’d like to share with you a  wholesome, nutritious, and deeply comforting staple food  that has been loved by generations:  Khichdi . Mentioned in  Ayurvedic texts  and used in  yoga’s shatkarma practices  (the six cleansing rituals described in ancient texts like  Hatha Yoga Pradipika ), khichdi is often made in Asian households when someone isn’t feeling their best. It’s  easy to prepare, easy to digest, and can be made all in one pan —saving both time and cleanup. What is Khichdi? The word  Khichdi (pronounced Khee-dge-ree)  roughly translates to a “mess” or “chaotic mash-up,” reflecting its simple combination of ingredients: Whole rice grains Lentils ( moong dal is most common) How to Make It Wash and soak  the rice and lentils for a few hours—preferably overnight. Ratio:  Start with 1:1 (rice to lentils) or slig...

JOMO vs. FOMO: Embracing the Joy of Missing Out 💡  Have you ever experienced FOMO ? The  Fear of Missing Out  – that uncomfortable feeling when you think you're missing out on something important or exciting, something everyone else seems to be doing. It often leads to feelings of sadness, isolation, and disappointment when we can’t be part of something we were looking forward to.  The idea that you’re "missing out" can be mentally exhausting, especially in our hyper-connected world. This is where  JOMO  comes into play: the  Joy of Missing Out . What is JOMO? JOMO can be defined as the peace and contentment that comes from choosing to step back from social expectations. 🥻What Is a Sari? Meaning, History & Cultural Significance

The Sari Series - Part 1  What Is a Sari? The Meaning, History, and Beauty of India’s Timeless Garment The sari is one of the most iconic garments in Indian culture, worn for thousands of years across the Indian subcontinent. Even today, it remains a powerful symbol of heritage, identity, and quiet elegance. At its core, a sari is a long piece of unstitched fabric, usually between five and seven metres in length. It is wrapped and draped around the body in different ways, allowing it to adapt to the wearer, the region, and the occasion. The fabric itself can vary widely — from simple cotton worn in daily life to richly woven silk reserved for ceremonies and special moments. Traditionally, the sari was worn without a blouse. Over time, particularly during the colonial period, the blouse and petticoat became part of the modern ensemble. Today, this combination is most commonly seen, though the essence of the garment remains unchanged. What makes the sari truly remarkable is ...
